It is the only major bill in the country's history to be passed without one vote from the opposition party. Given its huge impact on our economy (1/6th) and the way it was "passed", it's hardly surprising that it's not getting any support from either the Republicans or the public at large. And despite ObamaCare being modeled after RomneyCare in bluest of blue Massachusetts, when the people of MA had to replace the seat of Ted Kennedy (whose lifelong dream was nationalized health care) and Republican Scott Brown campaigned vigorously that he would vote against Obama's health care bill, the people of MA elected the Republican! So Obama, Pelosi & Co had to revert to a previous slap-dash draft that had been thrown together by aides and special interests (Reconciliation, which was NEVER intended to be used for such a monumental program) and attempted to sell the country on it because THE NEW CHARGES WEREN'T TAXES, THEY WERE FEES. Then the chief justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, ruled it was constitutional BECAUSE IT WAS A TAX. When the Republicans tried to amend the bill, Obama refused every single one of their ideas. "We won," he stated, while proceeding to blame Republicans for its failures ever since. And that's how we got into the mess we're in today.
