It is the only major bill in the country's history to be passed without one vote from the opposition party.  Given its huge impact on our economy (1/6th) and the way it was "passed", it's hardly surprising that it's not getting any support from either the Republicans or the public at large.  And despite ObamaCare being modeled after RomneyCare in bluest of blue Massachusetts, when the people of MA had to replace the seat of Ted Kennedy (whose lifelong dream was nationalized health care) and Republican Scott Brown campaigned vigorously that he would vote against Obama's health care bill, the people of MA elected the Republican!  So Obama, Pelosi & Co had to revert to a previous slap-dash draft that had been thrown together by aides and special interests (Reconciliation, which was NEVER intended to be used for such a monumental program) and attempted to sell the country on it because THE NEW CHARGES WEREN'T TAXES, THEY WERE FEES.  Then the chief justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, ruled it was constitutional BECAUSE IT WAS A TAX. When the Republicans tried to amend the bill, Obama refused every single one of their ideas.  "We won," he stated, while proceeding to blame Republicans for its failures ever since.  And that's how we got into the mess we're in today.

Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993. Look it up. The last time the federal budget was balanced, it was done all by Democrats (plus one vote in the Senate from Bernie Sanders, who caucuses w/ Dems).

This was an enormous bill, and it led to elimination of Federal deficits for 3 years, until the repigs gained control of Congress and the presidency and gave all the American peoples' money to their rich crony campaign backers. Republicans are not a fiscally responsible party.

Sorry but BS it used projected income based on the DOTCOM bubble going on forever.  It also only worked because of the spending limits from the Republican house.  And since the republicans took control and 94 he would've handled been passed with Republican help. By the way if you wanted except for fiscal responsibility exam in the deficits during the Bush years with the Republican House and Senate and a Democrat House and Senate. The Democrats had deficits about 3 times higher.
