Pres. Obama, I'm a fan.  Generally, I agree with your actions, but I fear you are following the path that, unfortunately, most of our presidents take.  They, (and you,) seem to surround themselves with people who have their own inflated egos and their own agendas.  After being elected, our presidents seem to reach a point where they forget they are also mortal.  They also forget that we are a democracy that is supposed to be "of the people, for the people and by the people."  I know you're an intelligent man, but a lot of Americans are intelligent, also.  We understand that, in truth, there is no such thing as a "surgical strike."  We also understand that the Pentagon and Military Industrial Complex are drooling.  PLEASE do not attack Syria.  The American public does not want it, and it will do NO good.  We went into Iraq and Afghanistan based on a lie and based on President Bush's sense of inflated power.  Those decisions hurt us internationally and economically.  I respect your office, but I want a better world for my children and grandchildren.  It's okay to back down.  It's okay, and the great majority of Americans will respect you more if you retreat now and change your mind.  You will also accomplish "the greatest good for the greatest number of people."  The majority of Americans do NOT want you to attack Syria.

This couldn't be any closer to the truth.  The American public will respect Obama more, for backing down and letting the UN step up.  Let us make this country a better place for our children and lead the next generation by example.
I don't want U.S. to act in Syria or any other country over seas. We need to take care of things here.Other countries don't care about us. We need to spend money here on the people out of work & all the veterans that have been wounded in the wars. All the money given to other countries is wasted. No other country cares about us. No matter how much money you give them they'll still hate us. So please let us take care of us. We can't help what other countires are doing. We need to take care of our own house & have everyone here employed & all the children safe & all the wounded cared for. Use the money here please,we have lost too many of our good people to the wars & for what? They are all still fighting each other & still hate us.

No No No do not send troops into Syria.  These radical islamists are never going to stop and we do not need to be in sticking our noses into their problems.  Who the **** are we fighting anyway??   No one knows for sure do they?

No,IT WOULD BE AN ACT OF WAR..........
by
our small town of 2,341 does not want the US to get into syria's conflic, we had a town meeting and we all thought that we have enough problems in our country that needs fixing, so we say NO to syria mr president
by
No.  No military involvement
by
I am against the US bombing syria. I believe that any action or sanctionsof syria should come from russia. The US moneys would be better spent in helping those syrians who were wise enough to flee their country.
by
My name is Tom Russella, Im undecided, but what will convince and help the presidents cause? SIMPLE come public and show/explain the EVIDENCE!! plain and simple, if we have HARD evidence that Assad DID use those chemicals and NOT the rebels then I would be convinced to agree with the president.
by
This Would be a big mistake it's going to draw in others,so please do not do this we have no business being involved in Syrias business. So i urge the USA not be invoved in this it's a big mistake.

For the past 2 weeks all our government has been doing is seeking support to attack Syria.  The cirme committed by Assad is inexcusable and must be  dealt with swiftly.  If we had someone in the White House with the intestinal fortitude of Reagan or Truman, this matter would have been solved already.  Assad, his wife and that entire regime has to be ousted!!  Why do we have to telegraph the world what we are going to do or not to do????

Mr Obama DOES NOT need anyone's approval to do what is right for humanity.  Has he forgotten about his Preisdential Executive power?  Mr Obama,  please do what is right . The world will be better off if you do.  Mr Putin and the rest of our so-called allies, including the British, have shown their true colors.   Hope this is not forgotten by the USA as we move forward.

Isn't providing aid/comfort to an enemy of the United States, treason?

News reports have stated that the al-qaida terrorists are fighting for/among the Syrian rebels.

Question:   Why isn’t providing any U.S., military action that would only aid and support the Syrian rebels, treason?

The United States government, in defining al-qaida terrorists  "enemy combatants"  apparently did so, in order to treat them as war enemies...not merely “international criminals.”

Wthin that now legal definition, Al-gaida is defined a war enemy,  yet,   the President is asking for a legal right to provide millions of dollars worth of military support by activating a military strike that only provides aid and comfort to our legally defined war enemies!!

How can this military action, not be treason?

USC › Title 18 › Part I › Chapter 115 › § 2381

    18 USC § 2381 - Treason

Current through Pub. L. 113-31. (See Public Laws for the current Congress.)

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

I am behind the President for attacking Syria for there actions. If we stand by and let thiese actions go unpunished then we are ssaying that countires like Syria can do whatever they want, can go around bombing and using chemical weapons whenever they want against whoever they want. If the USA used chemical weapons, we as a nation would be held responsible by the rest of the world for our own actions. I say attack and let know that they cannot get away with there actions toward their own people.

NO to use of force against Syria as proposed by the President. Below are my reasons for making this statement.

1. The purpose of our military is to protect the citizens of the US and the constitution from harm. Intervention in Syria does neither.

2. While the civil war in Syria is a dreadful event, so was our own. But we should think of it this way. What if, in 1861, some England had decided to intervene and support the Confederate cause (which it nearly did) - we could still be a nation of slavery.

3. It is not our place to intervene with the world because of something we think is moral or immoral. We have a United Nations for that, and the UN does not support intervention.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Where do I sign up for protests against the strike on syria? I live in L.A County?
by
The only thing at the very least we will accomplish is killing innocent people there. We are supose to be so great at finding "bad guys" why can't we simply catch the president that is suppose to be responsible for the chemical attack and hold him and only him accountable? A strike will only hurt children and more. Don't be a murderer and rethink your desicion.
by
Mr. President, listen to America's citizenry for an overwhelming majority is telling you NOT to attack Syria.
by
If our Allies do not feel it is the time or place, we have no bussiness striking Syria.  Is this another cover for all the problems,

no balanced Budget, Health Care -Scam , that not only will hurt and break the middle class seniors, and put more debt on

our young generation.  People want to work and try to save, but ALL our Political Office Holders, will  do is nothing but be self

centered and out for the greed and false fame.  The question What has happen to Love of Country, and People?  It is the

Money of our Fathers,Grandfathers and Great-Grandfathers that did without to make U.S. a strong country.  We are a nation

that give up lives for freedom, and the right to have religious freedom and home and family.  All you do is take what the working class pay in taxes and use for your own greed.  You give to countries which would cut our throats.  Our country is not secure,we do not have safety anywhere.  You can not even rebuild our country after a tragic storm and you want our money to start something eles in another country.  NO,NO do you officials understand the word?

Yes, I am bitter after years of working for the dream I not only see my money disappear, jobs that won't take care of a family gone, more crime, schools going down hill, our maintenance of everything gone?  The Goverment has forgot their place, you work for the People of the United States of America!

Secure our Country, take care of our people be Strong.  Take Care of the US first and be prepared for all.  As I see it if

we vote for all new House and Congress the take it to State level and thn to County level and make sure that they abid by

the Constitution of our Father's we might be helped.  Changing laws and the Consitution to fit the needs of people in office

is a Sin.

Take care of the US and Grow UP  and be Men and Women your forefathers would be proud of.

Seeing children dying at the hands of a vicious dictator is so wrong there are no words. The scenes of dead children lying in the streets was so gruesome to watch and it made me very upset. However, I have something to say to Mr. Obama. You say we cannot turn a "blind eye" (your words) to this atrocity...I honestly do not think you care about the children or the adults who are dying in the streets and I will tell you why I say this. You have been turning a "blind eye" to the atrocities in your own country and abroad to the deaths of millions and millions of babies every day to abortion, funding Planned Parenthood so they can continue their deadly mission. How can you honestly tell the American public that those little children dying in the streets of Syria are any source of an outrage to you when you continue to fund the killing of babies who cannot defend themselves to vicious murderers in clinics around the USA? Please do not feign concern for watching children die in the streets of a foreign country. It appalls me that you think we who stand for the least won't notice your phony concern. And, no I do not think we have any business sending our troops into Syria even though it is an outrage what Assad is getting away with. Some countries will continue to do these things even if we step in. You cannot change that regime as much as we would all love for SOMEONE to! What happens after we attack? Then what? Do you honestly think he will stop gassing his own people because we try to stop it? It won't happen. Assad, like most "leaders" are all on a power trip. It is all politics.  Look at the track record in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are no different today than they were when those wars started. Some of my family have fought in those wars, all to no avail. Too many of our servicemen and women are dying still today. No, I do not approve of a strike on Syria, but more than that I do not approve of a supposed leader in the United States who turns a "blind eye" to abortion. We will not stop, Mr. Obama, until abortion stops!

This answer to my question gets to the heart of what is wrong in this country and the world. Bring back the values God delivered as the 10 Commandments.
President Obama. We need No war in Syria, we are still "at war" with Iraq and Afganistan. We do not have the financial resources to go to war with yet another country and still have anything left for the American people. Focus on things at home before making things harder for all. We wil be backing the al Queda in their mission against Syria if we do go to war. We need to get our economy and affairs here in the USA in order before we try to mess with someone elses. The American president needs to show the American people he cares for them, not always place others before them. It is America's Best Interest to stay out of Syria. We've been told the risk is a small and managable one, but the risk isn't your own, not the life of your son, your father, yourself, your daughter, your wife, or your mom. It is at the cost of others, and for what? Higher stock prices, Ticking off the UN and everyone else who doesn't support this decision. There is no hard evidence provided to the American people to support your claims made to go to Syria. We have many children who are on US SOIL who need your aid moreso then those in another country. We have middle-class citizens who are in poverty who need you to dedicate your time and energy in getting the unemployment rates back down. We need you to do something about the welfare/benefits aid for those unemployed who live in a better lifestyle then those who work 40+ hours a week. Drug tests and job placement should be required for all of those who are on welfare. Childcare should be available to working parents at affordable prices, most childcare as of now cost more per year then college tuition. It makes it harder for those who work to continue to go back to work once a child is born due to the rising costs. Put a program into place, this will create jobs for caregivers. There should be a maximum wage limit to CEO and other top executives depending on their experience and field. Put a program into place to reform the wage requirements for different jobs in different fields! You are needed to be in America working on help for Americans! Not sending American people off to war in another country to leave orphaned children, aging elderly and families with no support or subsidy due to their never coming back. Fix the corrupt spending on non-essential items and backing/support. If it doesn't benefit America, don't line your pockets for the sake of the American people.

I am not in favor of attacking Syria an getting into another conflict we can not afford , however I was in favor of attacking the Benghazi rebels and protecting fellow americans but our President failed to do anything and seems to be avoiding the facts  as to what really happened and why he did not act. We should really  be looking harder at Iran and consider destroying their nucluar plants before it is to late.

We need to, urgently, face the problems in this country, the USA!

We need jobs.   We need the government to lift regulations on business.  We need to encourage the Free Enterprise System.  This is the system that solves problems.  If people are working, many problems are solved.

Bombing Syria?    Get with it!     Concentrate on this country.   This effort will make us strong.
by
I vote no like millons of others . the people have spoken Mr President.
by
Please do not bomb Syria. One civilian kill and we are villains again. You do not have to save face this way. If you want to do good, give more money to all the surrounding countries stressed by hundreds of thousands of refugees.

Please don't bomb Syria. We are not the world police.

thank you, Karyn Kozak
